Justin P. Mohler, CPA, is the managing member of JP Mohler, LLC. With nearly 20 years of specialization in state and local tax consulting, he has extensive experience in all areas of state and local taxation, including, but not limited to, Ohio’s commercial activity tax, multi-state income and franchise tax, sales and use tax, real and personal property tax, site selection and business credits/incentives, and unclaimed funds. He also specializes in individual, corporate and pass-through entity taxation and compliance and planning.
Previously Justin was a Tax Executive in the Columbus, Ohio office of Crowe, the 8th largest public accounting firm in the United States. While with Crowe, he served as the state and local tax practice leader for Crowe’s Ohio tax practice and the firm’s national property tax leader. Prior to joining Crowe, Justin spent several years with the United States’ largest public accounting firm (Arthur Andersen LLP) in its state and local tax consulting practice in Columbus, Ohio. Justin’s experience ranges from providing tax preparation, planning and consulting services to the world’s largest businesses, to working with small family owned businesses.
Professional Memberships & Public Service:
Justin is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants (“OSCPA”).
As an active member of the OSCPA Tax Legislation Policy Committee, Justin serves as a technical resource for tax-related legislation and regulatory matters. In this role he makes recommendations on tax policy matters to the OSCPA’s Governmental Affairs Advisory Council and Executive Board. Other responsibilities as a member of the Tax Legislation Policy Committee include providing testimony on tax related issues before the Ohio General Assembly, servings as press spokesperson for the OSCPA on tax-related issues, and assisting in interaction with approved legislative and special interest bodies to assure that the OSCPA’s views on proposed legislation on broader matters of tax policy are properly considered.
In addition to serving on the OSCPA’s Tax Legislation Policy Committee, he is also a former Board Member of the OSCPA’s Young CPA Section and candidate for the Society’s Executive Board, which the Society’s senior governing board.
Justin also serves as a board member for The Christy Knotts & Ranae Donohoe Memorial Scholarship Fund and serves in a leadership role as a Council Member for his church, Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Springfield, Ohio.
Justin is a frequent speaker on various state and local tax matters. He has given presentations for The Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, Lorman Education Services, The Ohio Automobile Dealers Association, The Annual Bank Tax Institute, The Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, The Ohio Ambulance and Medical Transportation Association and The Ohio Land Improvement Contractors Association.
